The Licensing Process

Education Requirements:

In order to complete the Salesperson’s Licensing Course successfully each student must:

  • Has 23 lectures with 15 National and 8 Arizona
  • Arrive for class promptly at 8:45 for day students, 6:00 for evening students. The first 15 minutes of each session is devoted to work on quiz material and is part of the required attendance. (Should you miss a session, refer to the course calendars in the front of your manual to see when the missed class can be made up. Please make sure you receive credit for the made-up class by signing the roll sheet.
  • Pay the tuition in Full. The tuition balance is DUE NO LATER than session N4.
    Pass the YREA final exam.

Yuma Real Estate Academy Final Exam:

  • The final exam will take place the day after the final day of class at the same time as regularly scheduled class. Unless otherwise discussed in class.
  • Students can also schedule a time to come take the final exam in the Yuma Real Estate Academy’s office M-F from 830 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • You must complete the entire 90-hour program to be able to sit and take the final exam.
  • YREA’s final is a two-part exam: National (80 questions) and Arizona (90 questions) All multiple choice.
    You must pass each part with 75% or better.
  • If you should not pass the final exam after two attempts, we will suggest that you schedule a meeting with the instructor to help and discuss how we can strengthen any areas of weakness. At that juncture, we can schedule a third exam.
  • You can take the 90-hour program again at no additional cost within a period of 6 months from the completion of the initial class.
  • When you have passed the final exam, you can make a reservation to take the State exam.
  • The Pre-License Education Certificate must be signed by a school official, certifying successful completion of the Yuma Real Estate Academy Licensing program. The certificate will not be issued to a student until he or she has completed all the sessions, passed our school final and paid tuition in full.
  • No photographic/ electronic devices can be brought into the examination room. This includes cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc. Use of these devices during the examination will automatically disqualify the examinee and no refund will be given.

THE ARIZONA REAL ESTATE EXAM

  • You must complete the 90-hour course and pass the school’s final exam before you can take the state exam.
  • The Real Estate examination consists of 170 multiple choice questions- 80 questions on the national (general) portion, plus 5, not graded, pre-test questions, and 90 questions on the state (Arizona-specific) portion, plus 10, not graded, pre-test questions. The passing grade for each section is a %75. The state testing provider is Pearson Vue.
  • Examinations are held BY APPOINTMENT ONLY: Check with PearsonVue for dates and times available. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to start of your appointment.
  • Ask for directions or print out directions to your exam location when scheduling your exam.
  • Cost: $75.00 Payment is expected at time of reservation and must be made by credit card, debit card, voucher or electronic check.
  • To make your exam reservation you can all 1-888-405-5776 to schedule, fax in your Reservation Form to 1-888-204-6291 or go online to www.pearsonvue.com.
  • Please do not call the testing site directly. They cannot schedule examinations.
    What to take with you the day of the exam:

    • Pre-License Education Certificate (yellow document)
    • Two (2) forms of current identification (One MUST be government issued with a picture) and both must have signatures.
    • Calculator (Not an Alpha-key calculator, iPad, cellphone, or tablet)
    • DO NOT take: cell phone, pager……. lol……. tablet, scratch paper or school books.

Activation of License with ADRE

To activate your Real Estate License, you must provide the Arizona Department of Real Estate the following items:

  • Pre-License Education Certificate
  • Original Disciplinary Actions Disclosure LI-214/244, see page vi
    Original State Exam Passing Score Report and Application
  • Contract writing course completion certificate
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Department of Public Safety
    • If applying in person take card with you.
    • If applying via mail or email, submit a clear photo copy of BOTH sides
  • Proof of legal presence in the United States of America
    • If applying in person take AZ Driver’s license ID with you
    • If applying via mail or email, submit a clear photo copy of BOTH sides
  • Licensing Fee

To activate your license, you may turn in all items to ADRE in Phoenix in person or by mail to Arizona Department of Real Estate, 2910 N. 44th Street #140 Phoenix, AZ 85018

To activate your license online, upload all documents to the ADRE message center @ www.re.state.az.us

Once ADRE has approved your application they will request payment by email.

Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • All new applicants seeking an original license (including but not limited to real estate salesperson and/or broker) from the Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) must provide and Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of application.
  • There are two ways to get printed:
    • Electronic Fingerprinting
    • “Ink” Fingerprinting.

Electronic Fingerprinting (Processing can take 1-3 weeks)

  • Visit www.fieldprintarizona.com
  • Click on the “Schedule an Appointment “follow the instructions
  • Field Print Arizona office is located @ 2260 South 4th Avenue Yuma, AZ 85364
  • Pay $74.95 fee

Ink Fingerprinting (Processing can take 3-8 Weeks)

*This is the preferred method for people with fingerprints that are hard to print.

  • Pick up a DPS application from Instructor
  • Get fingerprinted at any local law enforcement office/station
  • Mail your application, your fingerprints and $67-dollar fee to DPS.
